Authorities in the eastern region of Libya have issued an order banning the Minister of Higher Education in the UN-installed government from entering the region.

The Interior Minister of Bayda-based Interim Government, Hussien Abbar, instructed all land and air borders to arrest Minister Othman Abdul-Jaleel if he dared and visited the eastern region.

The threat comes as the Minister of Higher Education plans to visit the educational institutions in the east.

The Interim Government is led by Abdullah Al-Thanni. It’s under the control of the military junta led by renegade General Khalifa Haftar.

The country has descended into political chaos right after the election of the House of Representatives in 2014.
