The Tripoli-based National Oil Corporation, the country's legitimate oil company, has warned ship owners about dealing with the parallel company founded by Al-Thanni government in earthen Libya, which is attempting to export oil illegally.

In a formal letter to the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (Intertanko), circulated among London traders and shipbrokers, the National Oil Cooperation warned ship owners of attempts to load illicit shipments of oil barrels via Al-Hariga port in eastern Libya, according to the Financial Times.

“Shipping market participants are advised that these contracts and the individuals who signed them have no legal standing,” said Ahmed Shawki, the NOC’s general marketing manager in a letter addressed to Katharina Stanzel, managing director of oil tanker association Intertanko.

“We call on the international community to stop such an illegal purchase.” The letter reads.

Meanwhile, many endeavours took place recently with the aim of selling Libyan oil cargoes illegally via Al-Sidra and Ras Lanuf ports, in addition, the parallel NOC has been trying so bad to obtain legitimacy that allows it to sell oil via Al-Hariga port behind the back of the Tripoli-based NOC, which is internationally recognized.
