A 4 million dinar allocation assigned to Jomhouriya Bank branches in Gharyan, Asabiya, Al-Shaqiqa, and the Islamic Bank in Gharyan was robbed by unidentified gunmen.

The Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported the Manager of the Jomhouriya Bank branches in the Western Mountain region, Abdelkareem Entat, who confirmed that the bank allocation was on its way to the administration headquarters in Gharyan coming from Zintan.

“The money was robbed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday while it drove through Al-Ghanayma town.” Entat added, saying all the security apparatuses were informed where the robbery took place and investigation is underway.

Jomhouriya Bank branches and the Islamic Bank in Gharyan shut their doors for the public on Wednesday morning in protest to the deterioration of security and the recurrent robberies of the banks’ cash allocations.
